headwound

(no subject)

Rot from the inside.

Anybody has anything to say about the source, all I can offer is this:

Oh yeah, and then there's this.

In the Nov. 7 election, more than 80 percent of voters will use electronic voting machines, and a third of all precincts this year are using the technology for the first time.

Dear random voter: if you plan to use an electronic voting machine that leaves no paper trail, and you're okay with that, then you are no longer allowed to participate in, you know, Democracy. Please move to China. Thank you.

Seriously, use a different means of casting your vote. Maybe the government will get the message when no one shows up at the polls and every vote in the country is an absentee ballot.

Not a bad picture, is it?

And it's a picture with a paper trail.

You know, accountability.

Checks and balances.

Oversight.

The little things.

A great man is gone.

Mr. Grant, you will be missed.

I only saw Mr. Grant once. It was the opening ceremonies at the WHC. Maybe it was Chicago, maybe Seattle, I forget. What I remember, though, is thinking, "Jesus, that's me in twenty years." Oh, I'll never have his publishing history, but something in his demeanor made me think he and I would have gotten along. I'm sorry I'll never get the chance to explore that notion, and I am really sorry for his friends. He's touched everybody currently involved in the genre in some way or another. Influence like that does not lightly depart.
