ACTUAL WRITER NEWS

Just go a response back from the Daikaiju Anthology folks. They have recieved my submission!! WOOT! For those of you not in "the know," This is a very exciting project for me. They are putting together a collection of giant monster stories somewhere in Australia. All original concepts, no "Godzilla Goes to Las Vegas" or anything like that. So, as it turns out I once had an idear for a screenplay right around the time I was disappointed by the American version of Godzilla in '98, so I took that screenplay, thinned out some of the ideas, and turned it into a prose story. Here's a snippet:
Terrakh roared from its massive, lamprey-like mouth. Its elegant dorsal fan became erect along the length of its spine. As the wave rose up in front of the island, Terrakh took a few steps forward then dove under the curl, avoiding the wave, its long, distinguished tail disappearing into the face of the wave as the tribe was left to gawp. Both islands were washed clean, and the entire history of an isolated tribe was lost to the ocean depths.

Terrakh used its whole body to swim, much like the pod of Blue Whales that it passed over, that its massive, reptilian shadow utterly dwarfed.

The temperature of the water grew greater as it swam toward the impact point of the star. It wanted to know what happened, so it continued in that direction, its massive body rippling muscle as it snaked through the sea. It kept its mouth open to swallow schools of dead tuna.

The water was hot now, and the nerves along the rim of its throat tingled. There was another large shape in the area. It paused from swimming to look around in the watery depths.

Close to the bottom was an unearthly glow, a strange, violet luminance that lit up the depths of the sea for a half-mile in every direction.

Terrakh swam toward the light.
So, I really want into this anthology as it's the fucking best idea for a short story collection EVER.

Just realized I used "massive" a whole lot there ... grrrr, I knew I should have taken a few more days to examine the final edit. Shiza.

Wish me luck, I'll let you know if I make the cut.
