HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY NEWS!!!

Geroge Romero is slated to begin filming on Land of the Dead in October of this year!

I am so excited I could pee!

The title had alwas been rumored to be Twilight of the Dead, and it's a shame that he's not sticking with it as it would be appropriate to the "time of day" titles of the Night of the Living Dead saga, but fuck it. There's news posted about it at IGN, but you have to be a member there. They got the snippet from Variety. The one thing we can be assured of, however, as George is truly an auteur, is that this film will be released with the NC-17 (or, better, unrated like the others), and this will take the bounds of disgusting to new levels, just as Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead did in their times. I am a big fan of the ultra-violence, and George's Dead films have always been the pinnacle of smart filmmaking mixed with truly mind-bending images of chaos, terror, and death.

From the IGN article by Brian Linder: "The only survivors have barricaded themselves in a walled city that keeps out the living dead.  As anarchy rules on the streets, the wealthy are sheltered in fortified skyscrapers.  The story follows a group of scavengers who must stop the masses of dead that are evolving into more advanced creatures and trying to overtake the city."

The producer, Bernie Goldmann, says it'll be "Night of the Living Dead meets Road Warrior."

Normally a statement like that would make me nervous, but as I am totally gay for Romero's fim making abilities I have no fear of what the final result will be. Romero's writing and directing, the guy knows his shit, and this will, no doubt, be one kick ass, unapologetic zombie movie.

Viva la dead!
