The Two Johns

So ... John Kerry + John Edwards ... interesting. Sort of the mirror image of Clinton/Gore where one has way more charisma than the other. And it's such a crying shame that charisma is such an issue. That's part of Dubya's appeal, that he's someone you could tip a beer with -- though that one could call that "charisma" astonishes me to no end. Still, I'd rather both be smart, and these two are that.

My only issues have ever been about "forward thinking." What I want out of a candidate is someone who's going to think about The World twenty-years from now. And all we got on the Republican platform four years ago was "We are the party of our forefathers," and "look how diverse we've become!" I will never forget how many Negroes and Hispanics they paraded out on stage to hammer home that point -- looked like a damned minstrel show. Diversity shouldn't be something they have to prove to the electorate, it should be a given. I'm surprised that the "red-states" didn't secede from the party based on that silly parade alone. But I guess a Republican Negro isn't like a Regular Negro.

Do I sound like a racist? Well, read between the lines.

And I'm angry that the Republicans are coming to New York City for their goddamned convention. That is the most shameful, obvious sort of pandering. I don't want them here, and I'm going to let them know it (ed. thanks to excessive paranoia on my part, what this last bit means is that I'm going to get my ass a big sign when they come here, and go near wherever the convention's being held, and I'm going to stand outside and yell "Go back to Crawford, Dubya!")
